National Merit Finalists 2024 Maryland University. Columbia, md — another round of 2024 national merit scholars have been announced, including 12 students from howard county. We’ve compiled the national merit semifinalist state cutoffs based on the most recent data from the fall of 2021.
About 95 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and about half of the finalists will win a national merit scholarship, earning the merit scholar® title. In the 2026 competition, it is expected that about 3,600 national merit scholarships will be offered to finalists who plan to attend a sponsor college or university.
